About Morris Meadows

Early in the 1900’s, George Morris immigrated from Nottingham England and purchased a quarter section of land from the Canadian Pacific Railroad for the grand sum of one hundred and sixty dollars ($160).

The sale came with conditions of improvement that were performed over a period of time. One hundred years later that quarter section of land remains in the Morris family.

Today, George’s son, Sid Morris lives there and the land is known as Morris Meadows. With his love of the farm country he grew up in, Sid believed others who did not experience this rural upbringing would appreciate the opportunity that this facility can offer. The property provides a beautiful tranquil setting where you can enjoy weddings, family reunions, business meetings, corporate retreats, craft events and many other gatherings. Morris Meadows has preserved those early days of rural farming communities in the construction of the premises. The interior of the lodge contains memorabilia from the early days of the local farming community, both in pictures and articles. The lodge also reflects the elegance of modern day rural life while not forgetting it's past.

What Sid Morris Has To Say!

Having grown up on the farm now known as Morris Meadows I experienced the tranquility and beauty of my surroundings. I understood why my father, who was into his middle fifties when I was born, loved his farm , the animals and was not really interested in travelling as he felt he had it all at Morris Meadows. In my latter years operating my insurance business out of Calgary I wonder if others would also enjoy the tranquility and beauty I felt at Morris Meadow. We opened for business on September 14/96 with the wedding of my childhood best friend Ted Bennett, what a great way to open a business with so many old friends in attendance. Over the years since then we have had many events, weddings, family reunions, birthday parties, business meetings, graft parties, hunters and just visitors, who came to rest and relax and take in what our area of the world had to offer. In our Games Room we have a display board that has material that tells what there is to do in Our Parkland. Surprisingly to me we have had people come and stay with us from All Over The World, so ever so often, on our web site, we will have what our quests from different parts of the world had to say about Morris Meadows and our area of the world. All our guest have added something to our experience and several have become good friends and keep in touch with us. We have tried to work closely with other attractions in our area such as Alberta Prairie Steam Tours, The Lacombe Corn Maze, Donalda Lamp Museum, Ellis Bird Farm, and Reynolds Alberta Museum, to name a few. We love our area of the world and want to show if off to YOU
